We are working to deliver a £5.2 million re-cabling scheme that will provide a modern and more resilient electricity network in the area.
Works programme
Between January and September 2024, the project will undertake works that include installing new XPLE cabling.
SSEN is working in and around the Fleet electrical substation in Coxmoor Wood (to the north of the A287 Farnham Road, west of Church Crookham) to deliver a re-cabling scheme that will provide a modern and more resilient electricity network in the area. The £5.2m upgrade works will be undertaken on the highways and adjacent farmland on and around both Ewshot Lane and the A287 between 12 January and 17 April 2024.
Works on the public highway will progress in phases as shown on the map. Vehicular diversion and traffic light control signage will be in place for each phase.
Offline works within the Fleet electricity substation off Rye Common Lane will be undertaken between 18 April-16 June 2024.
Please note dates are subject to change due to ground conditions and inclement weather. Road signage will be updated as appropriate.

Other SSEN works in the area
SSEN is also undertaking other works in Fleet on Florence Road, Queen’s Road and Corringway between 15 January – 29 February 2024, with access being maintained under traffic management. Any questions on these works should be directed to Steve Cardinal on 0776 785 1518.
Minimising travel disruption and noise are our priority
The nature of these works will mean that we will be closing the roads for our works to take place supported by a temporary traffic management system to be put in place. These measures will be planned by us in association with Highways England and local authorities, with any customers in the vicinity being notified in advance.
We understand that these works may cause some disruption and noise, however using industry best practice, our contractors will do everything to minimise any inconvenience. Look out for our maintenance signs, on the road network, for further information and diversions.
Why we’re boosting the electricity network
The works are part of larger cable replacement scheme of existing fluid-filled cables to the Fleet electricity substation at Coxmoor Wood to the west of Church Crookham. The scheme itself represents over a £5.2 million investment in the electricity network in East Hampshire.
We have the environment in mind
The works are futureproofing and strengthening your area’s power supply to cope with severe weather events. It will also help support greater uptake of low carbon technologies.
